Come on England!

Here we go! Tonight is another semi-final for Southgate against a very good Denmark team. England are the bookmakers' favourites, but let’s not kid ourselves that this will be an easy task.

We’ve been here before. We’ve hyped up our national side and our own expectations to levels far beyond their capabilities.

This time feels different somehow. There’s a calm attitude amongst the players. The team have yet to concede in the tournament. The young players are sticking to a system and playing without fear.

Win or lose, this young side have done themselves and their country proud.

I cannot end without wishing the best of luck to Denmark too. The way their players came together both to shield their stricken teammate during that traumatic episode on the pitch where it seemed that Christian Eriksen may not have pulled through. The way they consoled his wife at pitch side. The way they’ve used that team spirit to come through this tournament and do it for Eriksen. They’ve won the respect of football fans all over the world.

That said, I hope England beat them!

Winning this game would mean a final against Italy, a team who are unbeaten in what seems like forever. A national side which is used to winning in major tournaments. A team who would be strong favourites to now win the tournament. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves.

It’s a tough ask to win both games. This team certainly has the potential to do so. Strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride, this is going to be nerve-wracking!

COME ON ENGLAND!
